from the CRA President: Ecological immersion in Hobart
Pathways, July 2010
How blessed those of us were who gathered in Hobart for our 2010 National Assembly. The maritime beauty of historic Hobart and the warmth of welcome of our Tasmanian members made for a perfect setting for these valuable days of reflection, discussion and companionship.
The theme 'Ecology and the following of Jesus' and our reflections on religious life in Australia today made for a stimulating and hopeful time together as well as one that provided us with some challenges!
The call to ecological conversion as essential in the following of Christ gives us much food for thought, prayer and action in our personal lives, our congregational lives and for us as Catholic Religious Australia.
The implications of the recent survey of religious life will continue to engage us as Congregations and as CRA. You will soon have the final version together with the responses shared at the Assembly for sharing and discussion with your own members.
To those of you not able to be present at the Assembly be assured that you were in our thoughts. Mark next year's dates (June 28-July 1) in your diary and prepare for the warm welcome of our Queensland members!
I thank Clare Condon SGS for her generous leadership of CRA for the past two years and for all that the role of President asked of her.
At the assembly a new National Council was also elected, which includes a representative from each state, three members elected from the floor of the assembly, three co-opted members and an Anglican representative.
I welcome the following Religious and I look forward to working with them over the next two years.
