from the CRA President: Ecological immersion in Hobart
How blessed those of us were who gathered in Hobart for our 2010 National Assembly. The maritime beauty of historic Hobart and the warmth of welcome of our Tasmanian members made for a perfect setting for these valuable days of reflection, discussion and companionship.

The backdrop of the Derwent River and Hobart Harbour was a wonderful setting for Religious leaders to immerse themselves in the topic of ecology and the following of Jesus at CRA's National Assembly.

In his keynote address at the National Assembly, theologian Father Denis Edwards called for an ecological conversion that involves a new way of seeing, thinking and acting.

Aboriginal elder Elizabeth Pike moved, inspired and challenged religious leaders with her reflections on her life, her faith and her abiding connection to the land.

Greens Senator Christine Milne urged religious leaders to start conversations in communities around the values of caring for creation.

The preliminary findings of a new survey on religious life in Australia was discussed and reflected upon by delegates at the National Assembly.

More than 240 bishops, priests and deacons from across Australia gathered at Parramatta during July to reflect on the changing face of contemporary priesthood.
